Description: This is the first Graphic Design project that was assigned to us in our first semester of classes. The goal is to make a three page magazine layout with the main theme "What is Enlightenment?". I did the photography for the images in the project using the light painting technique.

Typography and the Environment Poster

Description: We were tasked to do a poster for the New York Art Director's Club for an event called "Typography and the Environment." We were only allowed to use type in its natural form -- absolutely no graphics or any distortion of type. I made all the elements in this piece. Also, I challenged myself by only limiting the letters I used to what can be found in "New York Art Director's Club Typography and the Environment".

Promotional Materials

Description: The Chameleon Dance Ensemble Edmonton is a newly formed dance group. I had the pleasure of creating all their promotional materials. I designed all their printed promotional paraphernalia - performance posters, souveneir programs, tickets, brochures. I also designed and coded their website for them. Aside from that, I also did a photo shoot for them before the performance, as well as video and photo coverage of their concert.

CD Cover Design

Description: In one of our first year classes, we were tasked to design a CD Cover for any band or musician that we like, utilizing Adobe CS 2 skills we learned in class. I chose to do a CD cover design for one my favorite groups -- a defunct Filipino band called "Hungry Young Poets". Their music is very soulful and they use a lot of symbolisms in their music. This is why I decided to go for this kind of design. I wanted a mix of mystery and hyper-realism. I wanted to show how their music can be a very powerful tool for self-expression in a semi-abstract way and still use terms most people can relate to.

Personal Identity Package

Description: I wanted to build a personal business package for myself. The images are of ink and paint dancing in water. I photographed all the images myself, and at the end of the shoot, I had more than 200 pictures of ink just dancing in water. I chose this design specifically to express my personal design principle -- "Design should flow." Our design teacher, Jeff Strangman, would always tell us in class that "Design is never an accident." I also stand by that principle. Through this series I made for my personal identity package, I wanted to illustrate these two design principles I believe in. The images featured here are my business card design and my presentation folder design.
